Families Welcome brings together our local communities around the important and joyful message that LA and the Annenberg Community Beach House are places for everyone. Together with the Miry's List team and Angelenos who are resettling, we offer a multi-part sensory learning experience about welcoming newcomers and how together, we will find a place for everyone. Registration requested.

Families Welcome runs from 2-5 PM, with a variety of activities to experience. Throughout the event the courtyard will have activities for all to enjoy including tables for writing welcome letters, making friendship bracelets and art, and a family portrait studio. While this event is geared towards families, all are welcome!

SCHEDULE

2PM: RABIA'S WELCOME

Welcome with Rabia Ahmadi

Guests welcomed by Rabia Ahmadi, mother and new Angeleno from Afghanistan. Rabia will set the intentions for the time together: make new friends, learn something, and get involved. Guests asked to make name badge stickers to help in breaking the ice with new friends.

Music performance by Kymberly Stewart

2:10PM: MUSIC WITH KYMBERLY

Live performance by Kymberly Stewart, GRAMMY nominated singer, songwriter, musician and early childhood music educator from Los Angeles. Kymberly will perform songs from her most recent album, Everybody Needs a Little Sunshine, is a rich collection of songs that promote unity, kindness, and self- love, inspiring listeners of all ages to enjoy the good things in every day.

2:30PM: WELCOMERS TRAINING AND STORYTIME WTIH MIRY

Welcomers Training and Storytime with Miry

Kids, come to the front! We’ll watch a video of Hala telling her family's story of leaving Syria. Miry's List founder Miry will read "Our World Is A Family" a picture book about welcoming newcomers and lead a conversation about welcoming with the kids in preparation for the activities. Topics and questions covered: What does home feel like? How does it work when someone moves to a new country? How does it feel for families? How can we help welcome our new community members?

3:45: BREAD BREAD

Afghan desserts and tea service by the Asghary family and New Arrival Supper Club. "Food is love in action," is the slogan of Miry's List's popular culinary social impact program New Arrival Supper Club, bringing together American people with their resettling neighbors to share beautiful meals, cultural exchange, and to fortify new friendships.

BREAD BREAD is available to the first 100 RSVPs and then to others per availability.
